The Wexford Missaukee Imagination Library is a big part of what the Great Start Coalition does. This free program provides one age-appropriate book per month to every child in Wexford and Missaukee County who sign up from birth to age five. There are no income guidelines, EVERY child is eligible. The Dolly Parton Foundation offers their assistance in determining which books are age appropriate; and sending them to the family’s homes straight from their facility. Books are made available by generous donations by businesses, organizations and individuals within the communities where the children live.

Contribue to Imagination Library & Contribute to a Child’s Success

Research has shown a strong link between parent involvement, early literacy and school success, which is highly related to success as an adult. As a matter of fact, parent involvement is the number one predictor of early literacy success and future academic achievement. Parents who read to their children and who have books in the home foster early literacy skill development and later reading success. The Imagination Library is means for parents to get free age appropriate books into their home and promote those early literacy skills and a lifelong love of reading.

Through a donation to the Imagination Library, the community can promote the success of their youngest citizens, which will yield lasting returns through a more productive workforce, reduced crime, and reduced welfare necessity. +More Information
