#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber
Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

This November 27th, join the movement and give – whether it’s some of your time, a donation, gift or the power of your voice in your local community.

It’s a simple idea. Whether you come together with your family, your community, your company or your organization, find a way to give back and then share your idea.

Those who are interested in joining Cadillac Area Chamber of Commerce #GivingTuesday initiative below is a list of participating chamber member organizations with a brief description of their mission along with a link to donate.

After 26 Project

In Michigan, at the age of 26, adults with developmental disabilities and cognitive impairment can no longer attend public schools, they age out of the system. For these individuals this is a very difficult and confusing time, suddenly, there is a huge void in their life and they have nothing to do. In 2007 a group of likeminded people set out to open a restaurant to help fill that void and provide jobs in the greater Cadillac community. When given the chance, adults with disabilities can perform effectively in the workplace. One other critical aspect of the mission is that our ‘Project Workers’ work and are seen in the public eye, not off in a corner doing piece work in a sheltered workshop. Part of our mission is to also inform and educate the public that developmentally disabled adults have the aptitude and the ability to perform in the workplace, they just need a chance. This need exists in Cadillac, throughout Michigan and across the country.

Community Foundation

A GREAT way to get involved in our Community is to donate to the Community Fund.  The Fund is housed at the Cadillac Area Community Foundation and supports our local community through grant making.  This fund is supported by philanthropic community members who want to make a difference. The Community Fund has six areas of focus; Education & Scholarships, Economic Development, Arts & Culture, Youth, Recreation & Environment, and Health & Human Services.  Support the Community Fund this #GivingTuesday and be a champion of causes that better our community!

Healing Private Wounds

Healing Private Wounds is a non-profit organization which began in 2006.

We provide sexual abuse prevention education and recovery program at no cost. We anticipate talking to over 8000 students in Northern Michigan in the 2018-2019 year.

We need funding to run the sexual abuse prevention program; funding for materials;   book markers, puppets, coloring books, computer program, transportation and gas money and other expenses to make our program successful.

One fourth grade boy said, “Thank you for coming. I didn’t know I was supposed to tell.”

Please help us safe children from sexual abuse. Thank you!
